"الإخوان المسلمون من حسن البنا إلى مهدي عاكف" هو الجزء السابع من موسوعة الحركات الاسلامية التى تخرج بالتعاون بين المركز العربي لدراسة الحركات الإسلامية ومركز المحروسة للنشر والمعلومات.. يتناول بالرصد والحليل تاريخ جماعة "الإخوان المسلمون" عبر مسيرة تزيد عن ثلاثة ارباع قرن. لم يرتكن الكتاب للمنهج التاريخي. الذى يتعامل مع الاحداث والمواقف من منطلق تسلسل حدوثها فقط. وإنما اعتمدت الدراسة تبويبا مختلفا يإخذ فى الاعتبار المسيرة الحركية والفكرية للجماعة بغض النظر عن تسلسلها التاريخي، وتتوقف امام أهم المحطات الرئيسية. والمحن الكبرى فى تاريخ الجماعة.. وكذا موقف الاخوان من مفاهيم الحزبية والتعددية والديمقراطية والدولة والمدنية والأقباط وحرية الرأى والتعبير.. مرورا بأهم أدبيات الجماعة ولوائحها الداخلية وتطورها وتناميها التنظيمي والحركى.. وعلاقات المد والجزر الصدام والتهدئة (مع أنظمة الحكم المتعاقد في مصر طوال تلك الفترات من عصر احمد فؤاد حتى عصر مبارك كذلك تتعرض الدراسة للعلاقة بين جيلين "الحرس القديم" و "التيار السبعينى".. وصولا لاهم الأسئلة "الحاكمة" حول طبيعة العلاقة بين "الديني" و "السياسى" وهل تملك الجماعة الرغبة الجادة فى تقديم نفسها كحزب سياسي ذى برنامج واضح المعالم... أم تظل قابعة فى المنطقة الرمادية بين هذا وذاك "اى للجماعة الدعوية والحزب السياسى"
