يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تقديم مجال توليد الطاقة الكهربائية بطريقة الديناميك الهيدروطيسي التي تتضمن عملية تحويل الطاقة الحركية لمائع متدفق إلى طاقة كهربائية تحويلاً مباشراً متجاوزاً عمليات التحويل التقليدية المتعددة. ولقد أصبح استخدام عمليات الديناميك الهيدروطيسي (أو اختصاراًMHD) في توليد الطاقة الكهربائية الموجهة للاستعمال العملي هدفاً لدراسة مكثفة حظيت بتطور كبير في السنوات الأخيرة. وفي واقع الأمر، تثبت هذه الطريقة أنها عملية التحويل المباشرة الوحيدة التي تستخدم الوقود الأحفوري fossil fuels لتوليد الطاقة بمقادير كبيرة، وهي ذات مردود عالٍ. ويمكن على وجه التخصيص، استخدام الفحم الحجري كوقود أولي لتشغيل مولد الـ MHD دون الحاجة إلى أي معالجة مسبقة.
