إن تضييع أوقات الطفل بلا فائدة لهو ضرر شديد يؤثر في مسيرة حياته كلها. لذلك ننصح الأبوين بضرورة التخطيط لأوقات فراغ الطفل تخطيطًا مفيدًا نراعي فيه جانب المتعة والترفيه، فلا يمكن أن نطالب الطفل بنسيان فطرته وميله إلى المتعة واللعب، وأنني أنصح أن تكون المتعة متوفرة في كل الأعمال التي نطالب الطفل بالقيام بها حتى المذاكرة أو أي عمل نراه جادًا يجب أن لا يخلو من المتعة، المتعة هي التي تجذب الطفل نحو أي عمل وتجعله متحمسًا له وراغبًا في أدائه، فإذا أشعرناه بالمتعة في العمل الجاد فلن يشعر بالملل فيه أبدًا بل سيطالبك بالمزيد منه، وهذا ما تمت تجربته مع بعض الأطفال الذين لا يرغبون في استذكار دروسهم، فعندما تمت إضافة بعض الألعاب البسيطة والألغاز والفوازير في الاستذكار والتي جعلت عقل الطفل يعمل ويفكر لإيجاد الحلول حتى أصبحت المذاكرة في صورة لعب أو منافسة مما دفع الأطفال إلى قبول الاستذكار في المرحلة الأولى، وفي المرحلة الثانية كانوا هم من يطلبون البدء بالمذاكرة.
وتزداد أهمية الألعاب المفيدة والتي تحفز عقل الطفل على العمل والتفكير في أوقات الفراغ، وهذا الكتاب يقدم لكل أم وأب ومربي الكثير من الأفكار والألغاز والفوازير المسلية التي أحبها الأطفال، لاستغلال أوقاتهم في اللعب المفيد والذي ينمي قدراتهم ويظهر مواهبهم وإبداعهم.
