وُلدت #تويوتاما_تسونو عام 1896 في جزيرة هوكايدو شمال اليابان. كان والدها يملك مركباً شراعياً، ولأنها كانت تحب البحر، كان يسمح لها بمرافقته أحياناً في رحلاته البحرية، وهذا ما انعكس في بعض قصائدها. تزوجت وهي شابة في مقتبل العمر من مهندس معماري، حيث انتقلا إلى طوكيو ومنها إلى باريس، وماتت هناك في عام 1928 بمرض السل الذي أهملت علاجه، عن عمر لا يتجاوز الاثنين وثلاثين عاماً. يتخلل قصائدها أحاسيس وصور يابانية وأوربية، أحاسيس في منتهى الرقة والعذوبة، لكن أيضاً حزناً عميقاً تجلى في أغلب قصائدها. كانت حياة قصيرة وهادئة تلك التي عاشتها هذه اليابانية. لا يُعرفُ عنها سوى القليل، القليل. وربما لم تكن سوى ظلّ وجودها الساحر، ظلّ سعادتها الهاربة. ولولا هذه ""النفحة الوردية"" لكانت قصائدها أكثر حزناً."
