خطت الراوية الفارسية خطوات واسعة في طريق التطور، وهناك بعض الروايات تعد من المعالم على الطريق، تصور القفزات الفنية الواسعة من ناحية المعالجة، كما أنها تقدم صورة واضحة للشعب الإيراني في صراعاته المختلفة، السياسية والاجتماعية، والروائي "محمد حجازي" واحد من الرواد في هذا الاتجاه من حيث المعنى والمضمون، أما عن "هما" فهي باكورة أعماله الأدبية، قد شرع في كتابتها وأتمها عام 1925م، وظهرت الطبعة الأولى منها إلى حيز الوجود عام 1927م، "هما" اسم فتاة في العقد الثاني من عمرها، مثقفة من أسرة متوسطة الحال، توفي والدها وهي في الثامنة من عمرها، فعاشت هي وأمها في كنف أحد أصدقاء والدها ويدعي "حسن علي خان" تميز حجازي كاتبًا بتعدد روافد ثقافته، وقدرته البارعة على استغلال هذه الثقافة عند طرح أفكاره بين ثنايا أعماله الأدبية.
