قال الإمام سفيان الثورى رحمة الله تعالى: (الإسناد سلاح المؤمن فإذا لم يكن معك سلاح فبم تقاتل)، ولأهميته الكبرية قد صنف العلماء كتبآ كثيرة ذكروا فيها أسانيدهم ومروياتهم قديمآ وحديثآ، سموها بالاثبات أو الفهارس أو البرامج أو المعاجم أو المشيخات.. كما أخرج بعض التلاميذ مرويات مشايخهم، حتى تبقى مروياتهم وسماعاتهم محفوظة لمن بعدهم.
وتشبهآ بهولاء الرجال- وإذ لم أكم من أهل هذا الميدان وفرسانه- فقد شرعت بإخراج ثبت لسيدى وشيخى الشيخ إبراهيم داود فطانى رحمة الله تعالى، وقد كتبت جزءآ منه فى حياتة وذلك فى أواخر عام 1411 هـ، ولما عرضته علية رحمة الله تعالى لأخذ رأيه فية قال لى: توقف ولا تكلمه، لأنه رحمة الله لا يحب الشهرة والظهور، ثم راجعته قبل وفاتة بشهر من عام 1413 هـ فأجاز لى إكمال هذا الثبت قائلآ: عندما تم الانتهاء منه فاعرضه على السيد محمد علوى المالكى، فإن ارتضاه افعل به ما شئت، وإن لم يرتضه فلا تظهره، فقلت له: سمعآ وطاعة: ومن ذلك الوقت بدء العمل لإخراج هذا الثبت والذى سميته: "الفتح الربانى بترجمة وأسانيد شيخنا الشيخ ابراهيم داود فطانى وبعض تلامذتة".
وقد تم تقسيم هذا الثبت إلى قسمين:
القسم الأول: يشتمل على ترجمة للشيخ ولمشايخه وبعض تلامذته، القسم الثانى: يشتمل على أسانيد الكتب الستة وغيرها من الكتب العلمية.
