تعتبر الجغرافية الحيوية أحد فروع علم الجغرافية الطبيعية الحديثة، والتي أخذت تظهر في أقسام الجغرافيا في جامعات الوطن العربي في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين كمادة إجبارية أو اختيارية. يقع هذا الكتاب الذي تناول الجغرافية الحيوية والتربة في بابين، الباب الاول الجغرافية الحيوية وقد تناول الفصول التالية. الفصل الاول تناول تعريف بالجغرافية الحيوية وعلاقتها مع العلوم الاخرى اما الفصل الثاني فقد عالج موضوع تشكيل الكائن الحي والتي يمكن ان تكون مناطق كاملة او مجرأة وكيفية تمثيل هذه المناطق كرتوغرافيا. وقد تناول الفصل الثالث تاثير العوامل الطبيعية على النبات والحيوان والتي تشمل في العوامل المناخية والتربة والتضاريس والمياه والانسان. اما الفصل الرابع فقد تطرق الى العلاقات النباتية مثل التطفل والتكافل والعلاقات الميكانيكية والمنافسة. وعالج الفصل الخامس موضوع البيئات الحيوية في الكرة الارضية كبيئة المياة البحرية والمحيطية وبيئة المياة القارية وبيئة اليابسة. وتناول الفصل السادس التوزيع الجغرافي للاقاليم الحيوية في العالم وخصائص كل اقليم بالاضافة للنباتات والجيوانات المميزة لها. اما الفصل السابع والاخير فقد حاول الباحث فيه تقديم بعض الاساليب المستخدمة في دراسة الغطاء النباتي مع تطبيق لهذه الاساليب على النباتات في الاردن. اما الباب الثاني فقد تناول اسس جغرافية التربة وذلك من خلال ثلاث فصول، حيث ناقش الاول تعريف التربة ومكوناتها وعوامل تكوناتها وتناول الثاني الخصائص الفيزيائية والكيميائية للتربة أما الثالث فقد ركز على أنواع التربة وتوزيعها الجغرافي في العالم.
