Book Description
يُعد بلاجيوس أحد الشخصيات التي أثرت في تاريخ الحركة الصليبية عامة، والحملة الصليبية الخامسة خاصة، إلى جانب دوره في إمارات الشرق اللاتيني، فضلاً عن إسهاماته على الصعيد الكنسي فيما يخص محاولات رآب الصدع بين كنيستي روما والقسطنطينية.
ويُعد بلاجيوس أحد رموز البابوية، والذي مثلها في نواحي عديدة وخطيرة من نواحي سيطرتها الواضحة على الممالك اللاتينية والحركة الصليبية في تلك الفترة من خلال تتبع أدواره المختلفة في الحركة الصليبية.
ويأتي الإسهام الأجل لهذا الرجل على مسرح التاريخ من الدور الذي أداه خلال الحملة الصليبية الخامسة على مصر؛ فقد شارك بلاجيوس الصليبيين في حملتهم تلك كمندوب بابوي وأحدث وجوده في الحملة إضطراباً في قيادتها: وبعد نهاية الحملة الصليبية الخامسة رحل بلاجيوس إلى عكا، وتنقل بين إمارات الشرق اللاتيني، حيث سعى لحل النزاع بين مملكة أرمينية، وإمارة طرابلس، والذي دار حول وراثة إنطاكية، ثم أرسله البابا هونوريوس الثالث عام 1223م إلى قبرص لإنهاء الخلاف الدائر حول بعض الأمور بين أليس Alice ملكة قبرص وبين رجال الكنيسة اللاتينية هناك، وبالإضافة إلى اتخذ بلاجيوس بعض القرارات ضد رجال الدين الأرثوذكس في قبرص.
تكاد تخلو المكتبة العربية لتاريخ العصور الوسطى من عمل علمي مستقل عن دور بلاجيوس في الحركة الصليبية، إذ أن جل ما قدمته الأعمال العربية عبارة عن دراسات عامة اقتصرت على أدوار معينة لبلاجيوس وأغفلت مهام أخرى، كدوره في مملكة قبرص، ومشاركته في الجيش البابوي مثلاً.
