تم إعداد هذا القاموس ليلبي بشكل خاص حاجة الطالب العربي في المرحلة المتوسطة وما بعدها في دراسته للغة الإنكليزية. ويحتوي على أكثر من أربعين ألف مادة ومثال آخذت في الاعتبار طبيعة الصعوبات التي يواجهها الناطق باللغة العربية في محاولته استيعاب الجوانب المختلفة لمعاني المفردات الإنكليزية واستخدامها الاستخدام السليم في المواقف المتبانية. لذلك اشتمل هذا القاموس الجديد على عدد كبير من الأمثلة التوضيحية مع العناية الخاصة بتلك التي تبين استخدام الكلمة في العبارات الاصطلاحية التي تمتلئ بها اللغة الإنكليزية ومقابلاتها في العربية الفصحى.
وعلاوة على بيان النطق الصحيح للمفردات الإنكليزية بواسطة رموز صوتية موضحة، وبيان للأسماء التي تجمع والأسماء التي لا تجمع، يشتمل القاموس كذلك على بضعة ملحقات عن المختصرات الشائعة والأوزان والمقاييس والعملات النقدية في البلاد المختلفة وفروق التوقيت والأسماء الجغرافية الهامة.
يمكن لدارسي اللغة العربية من الناطقين بالإنكليزية أن يجدوا في هذا القاموس فائدة جمة، خصوصاً في ما يتعلق بالكشف عن العبارات العربية الفصحى المقابلة للتراكيب الاصطلاحية في اللغة الإنكليزية.
