ويشتمل هذا الكتاب علي مدخل وسبعة فصول: يتناول الفصل الأول: الأجباب، والثاني: الجسور، والثالث: القنوات، السقاية والسواقي ومجاري العيون (القناطر)، والرابع: الحدائق أحواض النوافير، وصرف مياه المدن والحصون، والخامس: الاسطوانات الهيدروليكية (النواعير أو الدواليب) والسادس: الحمامات، أما الفصل السابع والأخير فقد خصصه لدراسة القورجات وقد ضمن المؤلف كتابه الأشكال واللوحات سواء داخل متن الكتاب أو بنهاية الكتاب، فضلًا عن قائمة المصادر والمراجع التي عول عليها في دراسته هذا وقد روعي أن تكون الترجمة مطابقة للأصل ومققة لجميع المعاني والأفكار التي ضمنها المؤلف فقرات كتابه ولم نشأ أن نثقل الكتاب بالهوامش أو نصحح بعض الأراء التي لا نوافق المؤلف عليها إذا أننا نعتقد أن مثل هذا الموضوع يتطلب بحوثًا مفردة ولا سيما من قبل الباحثين العرب عامة والمصريين خاصة.
