تعتبر البنوك والبورصات مرأة لتطور المجتمع، وبدونها يعود المجتمع إلى عصر المقايضة كما كان الحال قبل التاريخ، وكلما تقدمت المؤسسات المالية، كلما أخذت بيد المجتمع وتقدمت به إلى الأمام، إلا أن الأدب المالي والإقتصادي الإسلامي بشكل عام والعربي بشكل خاص، لم يقم بوضع مفهوم محدد للربا المحرم - من وجهة نظر المؤلف - وقام فريق بتحريم فوائد البنوك وتسمية البنوك التقليدية بالربوية، وقولهم أن فوائد البنوك هي أصل الربا، وليست فوائد البنوك ربا فسعر الفائدة أداة ومقياس، بينما الربا هو نية مرابي لأكل أموال الناس بالباطل ليتضاعف ماله في أموال المعسرين ولقد تم الاجتهاد في هذا المؤلف لتعريف الربا المحرم، مع توضيح تطور البنوك والبورصات ودورها الحيوي كأدوات مؤسسات هامة لخدمة الإقتصاد القومي، بصفة خاصة عندما تتحول إلى الشمول والعالمية، قد يؤدي ذلك المجهود إلى توضيح أمر ملتبس لدى بعض الأطراف الذين توقفوا عن ممارسة أعمالهم وتجارتهم التي اعتقدوا أنها مشبوهة بالربا المحرم.
