وقال الإمام البخاري: "لا يسلم عليهم ولا يعادون، ولا يناكحون، ولا يشهدون، ولا تؤكل ذبائحهم".
وقال الإمام أبو زرعة الرازي: "وإنما يريدون أن يجرحوا شهودنا ليبطلوا الكتاب والسنة، والجرح بهم أولى، وهم زنادقة".
وقال القاضي عياض: "وكذلك نقطع بتكفير غلاة الروافض في قولهم: "إن الأئمة أفضل من الأنبياء".
وقال الإمام الشعبي: "لو كانت الشيعة من الطير لكانت رخمًا- نوع من الطير قذر معروف بالغدر- ولو كانت من البهائم لكانت حمرًا".
وقال الحسين بن علي "رضي الله عنه" في شيعة الكوفة: "فإنهم دعونا لينصرونا ثم عدوا علينا فقتلونا".
