قد سألنى بعض الأخوان، رزقنى الله وإياهم اليقين والوصول إلى مقام التمكين، أن أجمع شيئا مما يحتاجه الراغب فى سلوك الطريق ومنازل أهل التحقيق.
وحين أمدنى شيخى وقدوتى إلى الله الشمس الحفنى بنظره سرت فى بحر. وبفيض أمداده اتنفح، فأجبته إلى ذلك طالباً من الله العون والإخلاص، وأن يكون سبباً لنجاتى يوم القصاص.
وسميته "تحفة السالكين ودلالة السائرين لمنهج المقربين" ورتبته على عشرة أبواب وخاتمة.
"الباب الأول" فى كيفية العهد والتلقين ووصية الشيخ للمريد بعد العهد والتلقين ووصية الشيخ للمريد بعد العهد.
"الباب الثانى" فى الذكر وآدابه والحث على استعماله.
" الباب الثالث" فى بيان الطريق الموصل إلى الله وأركانها حسب ما قالوه على الوجه الذى ذكروه.
"الباب الرابع" فيما يتعلق بالشيخ وشروطه وآدابه.
"الباب الخامس" في بيان آداب المريد مع شبخه.
"الباب السادس" في بيان آداب المريد مع إخوانه.
"الباب السابع" فى بيان آداب المريد مع نفسه.
"الباب الثامن" فى الأسباب التى يستحق بها المريد الطرد من شيخه.
"الباب التاسع" فى النقابة والنقباء وما يتعلق بذلك.
"الباب العاشر" فى النفوس وتقسيمها وأوصافها والأسماء التى يستملها السالك فى كل نفس.
"الخاتمة" فى شئ من مصطلح القوم.
