إذا تمكن الدارس من إستخدام قدر كبير من مفردات لغة ما، كان قادرا على القراءة بهذه اللغة بسهولة ومن ثم فهم ما يقرأه. كما أنه يمكنه الإستماع إلى ما يقال بهذه اللغة وفهمه والإجابة عليه، بالإضافة إلى التحدث بها بنطق صحيح والكتابة بها دون أخطاء في الهجاء تسئ إليه عند من يقرأ ما كتبه.
وفي هذا الكتاب آثرت أن أدخل في الموضوع مباشرة وأتناول مفردات اللغة الإنجليزية دون تكرار ما تذكره غالب الكتب التي تتناول موضوع إختبار التوفل وغيره من الإختبارات القياسية من حيث ذكر قواعد دخول الإختبار ومواعيده وطريقة رصد الدرجات فيه وموضوعاته وكيفية الإستعداد للإختبار وغيرها. فالقارئ ليس في حاجة لذلك لتوفر هذه المعلومات في كثير من الكتب الأخرى وكذلك عند الجهات المسئولة عن تلك الإختبارات القياسية وعلى مواقع الإنترنت.
وينقسم الكتاب إلى سبعة فصول تتناول المفردات الإنجليزية بشكل أرى أنه كاف للإعداد للإختبار حيث أن المفردات تتداخل مع بقية عناصر الإختبار بشدة. وأنصح دارس اللغة الإنجليزية- وأي لغة أخرى- بالإكثار من معرفة مفردات جديدة كل يوم ومحاولة إتقان إستخدامها.
والتمارين الموجودة بكل فصل من فصول الكتاب كثيرة ومكثفة. فلا يكفي أن تطالع مادة الكتاب فقط، ولكن ينبغي التأكد من وصولها الذهب وثباتها وإختبار ذلك من خلال التمارين. والكتاب يقدم إجابات جميع التمارين الواردة فيه بعد كل تمرين مباشرة.
