هذا الكتاب "المحاولة" قراءة متأنّية في تجارب مسرحية عراقية قُدمت على خشبات المسرح الوطني ومنتدى المسرح ومسرح الرافدين على مدار خمسة أعوام، وتحديداً من العام 2013، ولغاية بداية العام 2018، وقد اختتمت بمسرحية "تقاسيم على الحياة".
بدايةً يجد القارئ الكريم أن الكتاب توزّع إلى بابين هما نقود مسرحية ومقالات في المسرح، والغاية من ذلك فضلاً عن الجانب التوثيقي، كانت رصد الحركة المسرحية العراقية وتأثير الأحداث المتلاحقة التي فرضت حضورها على نصّه وكوادره الفنية ناهيك عن تغيرّ ذائقة المشاهد.
لقد حدثت بعد العام 2003 إنتقاله عنيفة في حياة المجتمع العراقي المعاصر، إنتقالة لم يكن مخططاً لها، فحدث التصادم الكبير بين ما هو تقليدي - متعارف عليه - وبين ما هو جديد غائب عنا ولأسباب كثيرة، لنجد أنفسنا أمام تحوّلات جديدة على المستوى المعاشي والإجتماعي والإقتصادي والسياسي والفني.
تحوّلات عنيفة لم تمهل من لم يمتلك وعياً ثقافياً فرصة لإلتقاط أنفاسه وقد وجد نفسه في خضم أحداث قبلت الكثير من الموازين المجتمعية لصالح تعدد الهويات والقوميات والإثنيات والمصالح.
إن الطرق العنيف الذي تعرض له المجتمع العراقي لتفكيك كتلته الصلدة إلى كتل صغيرة وليّ توجهاته الإنسانية العامة إلى توجهات إسلاموية وطائفية وقومية وفئوية، أفرز شرائح جديدة في المجتمع كانت مهمشة في السابق، وعزز دور شرائح قديمة ونبذ أخرى، لتبقى الأغلبية الصامتة الواعية الأكثر تضرراً لأنها ضمّت كل من نأى بنفسه عن حروب الطوائف والسياسيين والسلطة فاتخذت من الصمت ملاذاً لها وبالتالي علا صوت المفسدين وعديمي الكفاءة وتصدّروا دفّة قيادة مفاصل مهمة من الدولة.
