يوسف كامل فنان تشكيلي من الرعيل الأول الذي أرسى دعائم الفن التشكيلي في مصر، ولتاريخه الفني وتأصيله للفن في التربة المصرية حصل على جائزة الدولة التقديرية للفنون اعترافاً به وبفنه. نشأ يوسف كامل في بيئة قاهرية بين أسرة المهندسين تميزت بقدرات فنية واضحة فساعدته على بلورة الموهبة واستكشافها ولقد اقترن اسمه في مصر بالانطباعية حيث وجد فيها تجاوباً مع نفسه وطبيعته وظل معها هائماُ بالنور هذا النور الذي تحدث عنه "السهروري" "أرفع ذكر النور وأنضر أهل النور وأرشد النور إلى النور".
إن مناظر يوسف كامل هي تعبير عن الريف البسيط حول ضواحي القاهرة في صورته الخارجية وانعكاس النور والظلال عليه هو ليس ريفاً أسطورياً ولا قرية رمزية وإنما هو الريف في جمال ألوانه ولألاء شمسه..
