يدور موضوع الكتاب حول مهنة، وبمعنى آخر "صَنْعَة الخط العربي"، وقد جعلته مؤلفته الدكتورة فوزية، بمثابة نظرات في جماليات (الخط المغربي المبسوط) حيث كان لظهور مدارس الخط إسهام في تمايز خطوط بلدان الغرب الإسلامي، ومنها الخط المغربي الذي شرع في أخذ سماته المحلية المتفردة، خطاطون عملوا على إتقان اساليب كتابته، والتفنن في رسمه والإبداع في أشكاله، إلى أن بدأت تتضح أنواع وأساليبه وخصائصه الجمالية، حتى تحول إلى إرث حضاري على مر السنون.
والكتاب في مضمونه بمثابة (الدليل) لتعلم الخطّ، فهو يحدد شروط تعلم الخط، وكتابة الحروف ورسمها وأنواعها وعملية ضبطها في الخط المغربي من الالف إلى الياء، أي طريقة بناء الحروف وهندستها ودراسة أشكالها، وعملية رسمها من خلال لوحات (نماذج) مصورة مرفقة في الجزء الثاني من الكتاب، الذي يحتوي على نماذج نصية للتدريب.
تعتبر المؤلفة أن "الخط المغربي المبسوط أحد أرقى وأيسر الخطوط العربية؛ فقد حظي بشرف كتابة القرآن الكريم لدى المقاربة... ويعتبر المصحف الحسني السباعي أنموذج الجمال الفني في صناعة الخط المغربي المبسوط، ودليل ذلك أن هذا المصحف اليوم شبه نادر...
