استمرت العلاقات المصرية - السودانية تشكل شاغلا من اهم شواغل "مصر النهضة" . ولم يأت هذا الشاغلن من فراغ، ذلك انه منذ البداية كان امام القائمين على اصدار هذه السلسلة انجاز مهمة بعينها تلك التى تقوم على ترجمة بعض المقولات في الحياة السياسية بالبحث في جذورها التاريخية، ذلك أن عدم القيام بهذه المهمة يحول تلك المسلمات إلى لون من الوان الأقولا المرسلة. من بين هذه المسلمات القول" بأزلية" العلاقات المصرية- السودانية وهو قول كان يتطلب ترجمته العديد من الدراسات. سعيا وراء بلوغ هذا الهدف فقد أصدرت مصر النهضة ثلاثة أعداد سابقة لانجاز هذه المهمة، العدد العاشر تحت عنوان "الأسس التاريخية للتكامل الاقتصادي بين مصر والسودان" والعدد الرابع عشر بعنوان "العلاقات المصرية - السودانية 1919- 1924 " والعدد السابع والعشرين عن "السودان البرلمان المصري 1924- 1936). وفى نفس الاطار يجئ هذا العدد ليتناول الدور المصري في بناء السودان الحديث.. وقد نحا الدكتور نسيم مقار صاحب هذا العمل نحوا مختلفا في هذه الدراسة يقوم على اختيار الجانب الحضاري من الدور المصري في بناء السودان الحديث. واذا كان معلوما ان مصر أسهمت في ابراز السودان ككيان متكامل على أنقاض مجموعة من المشيخات والسلطنات القديمة ، فانه ليس معلوما بقد كاف ما فعلته مصر لتثبت دعائم هذا الكيان. وفي رأينا أن " تربيط " شتات السودان في كيان واحد تحت نظام اداري وسياسي مركزي كان مطلوبا لبث الروح فيه وابقائه على قيد الحياة والقيام بعملية "تربيط" اقتصادي وحضاري لهذا الشتات ، وهو ما فعله المصريون ، وهو ما أبرزة الدكتور نسيم مقار في هذه الدراسة.
