التحمتْ بشبقٍ وشهوانيّةٍ نظراتُ الحارسِ المناوبِ بأصابعِ المخطوفةِ، وهي تفرشُها عل وجهِها لكي تتوارى، فيظهرُ على أظافرِها الطويلةِ الطلاءُ الأحمرُ المُشعُّ، فظنّها اصطناعيّةً، وتقدّمَ نحوها، ولمسَها، ثمّ حاولَ سحبَها قليلاً إليهِ، فحرّكتْها، ليدركَ أنّها أظافرُ طبيعيّةٌ تنتهي بأصابعَ طويلةٍ ونحيفةٍ وملتويةٍ بيدٍ ورديّةٍ، تتخلّلُها ظلالٌ بيضاءُ أبهرتْهُ، قالَ في نفسِه: فتنةُ المرأةِ في أصابعِها.
لم يرَ الحرّاسُ الآخرونَ تلكَ الأصابعَ في الظّلامِ، لكنّ وجوهَهم تشي برغبةٍ في إغتصابِها ضاحكينَ، فاستشاطَ الحارسُ غضباً، وأشهرَ رشّاشتَه قائلاً: إذا حاولَ أحدٌ منكمُ المساسَ بها فمصيرُه عشرُ رصاصاتٍ بعددِ أصابعِها، تراجعَ الحرّاسُ عن فكرتهم الغريزيّةِ الطائشةِ.
ما تزال أصابعُها الناعمةُ، المضيئةُ، والساحرةُ تلمعُ بخواتمِها، وهو يهمسُ: لا جمالَ للمرأةِ دونَ أصابعِها.
لم يتمالك نفسَه، وهو يراقبُ أصابعَها بنظراتٍ أشدّ تأجّجاً وجموحاً.
اقترب منها بأنفاسٍ حارّةٍ تلفحُ وجهَها: أصابعُكِ أجملُ ما رأتْ عينايَ، وأرقُّ ما لمسَتْ يدايَ.
زملاؤُهُ الحرّاسُ حبسوا ضحكاتِهم، لكنّهم أخذوا تهديدَهُ على مَحملِ الجدِّ.
