المدرسة التقليدية في المجتمع الأردني كانت مثالاً للانضباطية، فالمعلم كان له تقدير واحترام من قبل الطلاب والمجتمع. ولقد تغيرت الصورة في وقتنا الحاضر فأصبحت المدرسة في كثير من الأحيان ساحة قتال وشجار ونزاع.
ظاهرة العنف في المدارس تتطلب فهماً عميقاً لأسبابها، وأشكالها وهذا لا يتأتى إلا عن طريق المرشدين المؤهلين للقيام ببحوث ودراسات حول هذه الظاهرة ووضع الاقتراحات والتوصيات للتصدي لها ومعالجتها.
