استحوذت قضية الجزائر منذ قيام الثورة الجزائرية 1954م، على تأييد ودعم ومساندة الأردن ملكاً وحكومة وشعباً، ولم يبخل على إخواننا في القطر الجزائي الشقيق بتقديم وسائل الإعراب عن هذا الدعم والتأييد، سواء أكان ذلك بعواطف ومشاعر ومظاهرات وإضرابات وإحتجاجات ومهرجات أطلقها في أكثر من مناسبة، أم بمساعدات مادية حكومية وشعبية بلغت الحد الذي سمحت به إمكانيات البلد وموارده المحدودة.
والقطر الجزائري ليس دولة جوار للأردن، ولا توجد مصلحة سياسية أو إقتصادية بينهما، ولا تربطه به إلا الروابط القومية والدينية، وقد تبنى القضية الجزائرية على الصعيدين الرسمي والشعبي ولم يتوان عن مديد العون المادي والمعنوي لهذه الثورة، وكان لهذا التبني أثره الإيجابي على الصعيدين العربي والدولي.
وقد كان الأردن في طليعة من نادي بتأييد حق الشعب الجزائري في الحرية والإستقلال، وجاء هذا الموقف متمشياً مع سياسة الأردن القومية الثابتة التي تعتبر كل قضية عربية قضية خاصة بالأردن، وتستوحي كل ما يكفي سيادة الأمة العربية ووحدتها، ومن إيمانها المطلق بحق العرب في الحرية والإستقلال، ومناصرة الحق العربي في كل مكان، وتأييد الشعب العربي في كل جزء من أجزاء وطنه، وشد أزره في سبيل التغلب على كل ما يُعيقه نحو التحرر والإنطلاق عن السير للهدف المنشود الأسمى في وحدة عربية شاملة.
ونظراً لما للأردن من دور هام في القضية الجزائرية، وإسهاماً في التعرف على مدى تفاعله، ووسائل دعمه، وأهمية ذلك بالنسبة لتلك القضية، وتوثيقاً لمرحلة هامة من تاريخ الأردن القومي، وعدم وجود أية دراسة جزئية أو متخصصة حول ذلك، فقد تولدت لدي كباحث الرغبة والقناعة للبحث في هذا الموضوع.
