هو هذا الكتاب الذي يزفه الطبع إلى القرّاء الكرام، وقد ألّفه العلاّمة الحلّيّ إستجابة لرغبة ولده محمد المعروف بفخر المحققين، وخصصه لأهم المسائل الكلامية، التي أفرغها في قوالب فلسفية وبرهانية.
وهو أشبه بكتاب (تجريد الإعتقاد) لأستاذه نصير الدين الطوسي، والذي شرحه العلامة بكتابه (كشف المراد) وقال: وجدنا كتابه الموسوم بتجريد الإعتقاد فيه بلغ فيه أقصى المراد وجمع جلّ مسائل الكلام على أبلغ نظام.
غير أنّ المصنّف سلك في كتابه هذا مسلك السهولة في البيان، وهو يغاير مسلك الطوسي في كتاب (تجريد الإعتقاد) الذي يمتاز بالصعوبة، ولكنهما (الأستاذ والتلميذ) يشتركان في إضفاء الصبغة الفلسفية على المسائل الكلامية على نحو صار هذا النمط هو المقبول بين المتأخرين من المتكلمين من غير فرق بين السنّة والشيعة.
والكتاب كما يصفه المؤلف في مقدمته مشتمل على أهم المسائل وأشرفها والنكت العظيمة اللطيفة، فجمع فيه النكات الكلامية وأصول المطالب العقلية.
