هذه الدراسة التي بين أيدينا تتناول معركة من أهم المعارك التاريخية التي شغلت الحياة السياسية في مصر، وشكلت جوهر الحركة الوطنية في مصر بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية، وهي المعركة التي خاضها الشعب المصري من أجل جلاء القوات البريطانية في مصر الموجودة بحكم معاهدة 1936، ومن أجل وحدة وادي النيل وهي معركة ازدحمت بالشهداء من الشباب المصري على طول الفترة الزمنية التي احتلتها من 1945-1954.
وقد استند فيها الباحث إلى الوثائق المنشورة وغير المنشورة والدوريات والمذكرات والمقابلات الشخصية مع صانعي الأحداث.
وتنقسم إلى ثلاثة أبواب: الباب الأول وهو بعنوان: المفاوضات الأولى وفشلها من 1945-1947.
