اجتهد المؤلف في جَمْع مادَّته؛ وفاءً لرمزٍ من رموز العلم والدعوة، وتخليداً لذِكْراه، وإذكاءً لهِمَّة الشباب والدُّعاة وطلبة العلم بشيءٍ مِن سيرة هذا العالِم العابد، إبتداءً مِن أحوال أهل بيته أيَّام نشأتِهِ الأولى، مروراً بإقباله على طلب العلم الشرعي بين يدي العلماء في المساجد وفي صفوف الدراسة النظامية، وإنتهاءً بأعمالِه الجليلة التي قدَّمها للأمَّة الإسلامية داخل المملكة وخارجَها.
وأجاب الكتاب عن أسئلةٍ مثل: (عوامل نجاح الشيخ عبد الله الشهراني في مشاريعه الرائدة التي تجاوزت المئات، وعن برنامجه اليومي منذ يُصبِح إلى أن يُمسي، وهل كان الشيخ عبد الله مُقصِّراً في العبوديَّات ذات النفع القاصِر كصلاة الليل وأوراد القرآن الكريم؛ نظراً لإنشغاله بمشاريِعَ عظيمةٍ ذات نفعٍ مُتعدِّ؟ وماذا عن أخلاقه مع الناس؟ هل كان ككثيرٍ من الناجحين في الأعمالِ فاشلاً في العلاقات مع الناس أو ضعيفاً فيها؟).
وكأنَّما عنى الشيخ عبد الله الشهراني نفسَه بهذه العبارة التي قالَها مرَّةً: (ينبغي للمؤمن أن يكون كالغيث؛ أينما حلَّ نفعَ، لأنَّ لديه دافعيَّة ذاتيَّةً نحو فعل الخير للناس اكتسبها مِن توجيهات الكتاب والسنة)، نحسبه كذلك ولا نزكِّيه على الله تعالى.
