سؤال الهوية هو ما تطرحه رواية "أسياد بلا جياد" للكاتب "مصطفى سعيد" والتي يتحدث من خلالها عن صراع الأكراد في المنطقة، في محاولة من الراوي تقديم إجابات وافية عن القضية الكردية.
تدور أحداث الرواية في سوريا وفيها يتابع الراوي خطوات بطله الذي بدا ثائراً ومتحمساً أكثر للدفاع عن هويته وانتماءه في مواجهة السلطة. يقول الراوي "... كنت أظن خطأ في بداية أيام شبابي أن الطاقة التي بداخلي قادرة على ان تمد جداراً وتثني كومةً من الحديد، معتقداً أني سأعمل دون يأسٍ لأخدم وطني الذي حناني له يغطي كل بقاع الأرض (..)، لكن، حدث عكس ما أريد، فابتعدت كل البعد عن كلَ ما يصادف طريقي، لأن ما سأفعله ليس إلا صلوات وثنية لا تلقى عند الإله أي حسناتٍ، ليذكرني بأني كردي، مسلوب من أدنى حقوقي، سببها حرقة كانت تلدغ كبدي من أحوال الكرد، تناثرهم مثل غبار الطلع في الهواء...".
رواية "أسياد بلا جياد" تطرح قضية، وتعبر عن إشكالية بين الحاكم والمحكوم هي معادلة صعبة، وعلاقات ملتبسة يغلب فيها الصراع للأقوى واستحالة الجمع بين هويتين متقاتلتين. من هنا يكون الشجن محصلة طبيعية لهذه الإستحالة، وهذا ما وجدناه بداية الرواية وانتهاءً بها.
