إن المرء لا يصبح مؤرخاً إذا لم يحركه حب الاستطلاع، وهذا الحب لا يكفي في حد ذاته إذا لم يوجه الخيال جهد المؤرخ نحو غاية معينة أو صعوبة يحاول حلها وتكون ذات مغزى وفائدة للجيل الذي يعيش فيه المؤرخ. من هنا نبتت الفكرة لدى المؤلف لدراسة تاريخ الشركس وآل آنزو الذي هم جيرانه في الحي، ولم تتم دراسته لتاريخ الشركس بمعزل عن تاريخ القبائل والشعوب المجاورة لهم، لذا جاءت دراسته لما يحيط بهم من شعوب أخرى حيث تكونت لديه قناعة أن هذه المنطقة منطقة القفقاس لا يمكن عدها جزءاً من الحضارة الغربية ولا هي كذلك من حضارة الشرق القديم، بل كانت معبراً للحضارات الأخرى.
وهكذا لم تصبح هذه المنطقة مركزاً لحضارة متميزة ذات خصائص معينة تجعلها تختلف عن غيرها من الحضارات بل كانت وسيطاً حضارياً ممتازاً فيه سمات حضارة الشرق والغرب معاً، لذا فقد حاول من خلال كتابه هذا أن يبين بأن الحدث التاريخي لا يحدثه عامل تاريخي مفرد بل لا بد له من عوامل متعددة اقتصادية واجتماعية، سياسية أو أخلاقية وكلها تعمل متجاورة ومتعاونة أو متنافرة بعضها مع بعض. وقد أرَّخ المؤلف لعائلة آل آنزو من خلال تاريخ القيدرداي مبيناً أن تلك الشخصيات الآنزورية لا وجود لها خارج حدود زمانها ومصالح أسرتها الطبقية، وأن صفاتهم الشخصية هي محصلة لتفاعلهم مع الوسط المحيط بهم مبيناً أن محور تطور تلك الشخصيات هو تمثلها للأحداث التاريخية التي أحاطت بهم وحركتهم من خلال وعيهم لوجودهم ضمن مجتمع القبيلة الشركسية.
