كثيراً ما يلقي الباحثون في تاريخ الكرد وكردستان وهم يعانون من شحة المصادر باللائمة على صناع الأحداث من الأمراء والساسة والعلماء، الذين زهدوا في تدوين مسموعاتهم ومشاهداتهم من الأحداث التي مرت بهم وبمناطقهم، فساهموا بذلك في بقاء كثير من حلقات التاريخ الكردي مفقودة.. ولكن نشر مثل هذا الكتاب الذي تحت أيدينا الآن يبرء إلى حد ما ساحة بعض هؤلاء الملامين، ويدل من جانب آخر على أنهم ما قصروا في هذا المضمار، ولكن الظروف القاسية التي مرت بكردستان، ألقى بظلاله على أغلب ما كتبه هؤلاء، فأتلف جل مؤلفاتهم وما بقي –وهو القليل من الكثير- فبقي مبعثراً هناك وهناك حتى أتى عليها حين من الدهر صار نسياً منسياً.
ومن جملة ما سلم من التلف وعاني من النسيان هذه الرسالة التي بين أيدينا وهي في ذكر تاريخ ناجية (شيروان) أو (شيروا) التي تقع إلى الشمال والشمال الغربي من منطقة جزيرة بوطان في كردستان الشمالية، تلك المنطقة التي قامت في ربوعها إمارة كردية عاشت عدة قرون من الزمن، وشاركت في صنع أحداث كثيرة مرت بالمنطقة، وقدمت الكثير من الأدباء والعلماء والمشايخ والفضلاء، سطرها بأسلوب السهل البسيط أحد أمرائها وهو الأمير صالح بن خان بداق الكرماصي الشيرواني، الذي بقي في سدة الإمارة أكثر من ثلاثين عاماً، وعقد علاقات صداقة وعداوة مع أغلب المحيطين به من الأمراء والباشاوات، فكان بذلك شاهد عيان بل صانع حدث في كثير مما كتبه من الوقائع والأحداث.
