لم يسع مونييه إلى تطوير مؤلفه "مدخل المذاهب إلى الوجودية" مشروعاً شخصياً غايته الوضوح التدريجي من وجهة نظر المسيحية للكون، لكنه كان على قناعة بأن الإنتقادات - بالمعنى الكانطي في تعيين الحدود - لا ينبغي أن تقتصر المواجهة على المسيحية والوجودية، فالمسافات تتقارب بينهما إلى درجة أنها تختفي، على أن تكون المواجهة مفتوحة لمحاولة تحديد أوسع من وجهة نظر فلسفية بحتة، تتجاوز قيود مشروع سارتر ونقاط ضعفه.
ومن هنا، جاء إختيار مونييه أسلوباً يستعرض موضوعاً تلو الآخر (اليقظة الفلسفية، والإهتداء الشخصي، والإلتزام، والآخر، الحياة المعروضة، ووجود وحقيقة...).
فهكذا أسلوب يشجع، بشكل خاص، نقاشاً وثيقاً بين ممثلي مختلف فروع الشجرة الوجودية، إن الإنسان موجود يُثبت بإستمرار حريته في العالم فهي تمثل أساس فعله، فإذا ما أخذت هذه الحرية الخلاّفة زمام الأمور جعلت من الإنسان أشبه في قدرته المبدعة بإله، فهي لا تقلل من حالته المأساوية، حينها ستحتضن الوجودية الملحدة خبرة مأساوية المسيحية العميقة، وخاصة تلك التي طرحها بليز باسكال.
لاقى هذا الكتاب إستقبالاً كبيراً عند النقاد، فأعرب الفيلسوف فرانسوا مورياك عن إعجاب كبير تجاهه، في حين اهتم الفيلسوف كارل ياسبرس إهتماماً كبيراً بهذا الكتاب كونه يقدّم خلاصة واضحة بموضوعيتها عن المذاهب الوجودية.
لقد تحمّل مونييه، حتى النهاية خياراته المنهجية في سميه الدؤوب إلى إكتشاف أوجه التشابه ونقاط الإتصال بين الأفكار والقاسم المشترك بينها أي - "الوجود" - وهذا ما منعه من إخفاء إختلافات الإلهام العميقة جداً والحساسية والخطاب.
لم يزعم مونييه توفيقاً كاملاً بين المفارقات، بل ركّز على الصدام المحتمل الذي يُنتج المعنى، فيلمس القارئ لديه براعة في إستحضار الخلافات الفكرية والتعامل معها، بغية إرساء الحقيقة بعيداً عن كل أشكال المحسوبية الفكرية والعلمية، فكان حساساً تجاه الفروق الدقيقة والتبسيط المفرط وهذا مهده للدخول إلى الحوار الجاد، فكتب ريكور عنه واصفاً فلسفته الشخصانية ذات طابع مزدوج: إنها فلسفة نشاط وفلسفة المستقبل.
