الملاحظ هو أن هناك نوع من التقصير في الكتابة بصورة منهجية مستقلة عن "الشخصية المغربية" وعن خصائصها المميزة لهويتها عن باقي الشعوب والأمم، ويعود في نظري هذا التقصير إلى منقبة من مناقب الإنسان المغربي المتجلية في "إنكار الذات" هذه المنقبة التي اتصف بها المغاربة أفرادًا وجماعات، إمعانًا في التواضع وفرارًا من تعظيم النفس وتجنب السقوط في براثن النرجسية، لكن الإمعان في الاتصاف بمنقبة "إنكار الذات" قد تولد عنه مظاهر سلبية كان لها أكبر الأثر على هويتنا المغربية، ولعل من أهم هذه الآثار السلبية وأبرزها نجد الإجهاز على مقومات شخصيتنا المغربية واستبدالها بنماذج غريبة وخارجة عنها، ودخيلة عليها من المشرق ومن الغرب. الأمر الذي خلق تداعيات سلبية أخذت تطارد الشخصية المغربية في كافة مناحي الحياة العمرانية والدينية والمعرفية والفنية، حتى غدت الخصائص التاريخية لهذا الوطن تشكو من الغربة في جغرافيتها وفي مجالاتها الحيوية إلى الحد الذي أصبحت الهوية الوطنية تستشعر الخطر، وهو ما يقتضي ويتطلب إعداد تصور فكري لتحصين الذات المغربية من الذوبان، لكن المتلقي الذي يستقبل اصطلاحات من قبيل "الشخصية المغربية" و"الإنسان المغربي" و"الهوية الوطنية" قد يبادر بطرح أسئلة مفادها: هل توجد شخصية وحضارة مغربية مستقلة عن غيرها؟ وما هي مقومات هذه الشخصية التي تعطي لهذا الإنسان المغربي ذات ثقافية تميزه عن غيره؟ وللإجابة عن الأسئلة كان لا بد من البحث عن الأسس والمقومات المكونة للشخصية المغربية، ثم الانتقال إلى إبراز تجليات وتمثلات هذه الشخصية على مستويات متعددة يمكن حصرها في محورين:
المحور الأول معرفي ويرمي مضمون هذا المحور إلى الكشف عن الإبداع المغربي المميز لهذه الشخصية المغربية في معارف متنوعة منها المعرفة الدينية والمعرفة الدنيوية في شموليتها، المحور الثاني سلوكي ونقصد به البحث في شتى المناحي العملية لسلوك الإنسان المغربي في بعديه الفردي والاجتماعي ونذكر منها على سبيل المثال لا الحصر بنية السكن وهندسة العمران والبناء والأنماط الموسيقية وأشكال الملابس وثقافتها وغيرها من الممارسات والفنون التي تحمل في بنياتها أنماطًا ثقافية متميزة تتخذ صفات الممارسات السلوكية لا الكتابية.
