"زيتونة الوادي الأخير" قصائد حب يهديها محمد باقر عودة إلى (بيروت): "لست أنا من أهديكم روحي مغلفة في كتاب ... بل هي (بيروت) التي أوحت إليّ أن أرسم أحلامي على أوراق زيتونة الوادي الأخير) . بيروت هي التي همست لي بكل الحبّ ... ومارست معي فعل الحبّ ... بيروت هي حبيبتي التي غادرتني ذات ليل وعاودتني ذات صباح" بهذا الموشور النصي يبدأ الشاعر رحلته مع الشعر، ومن هذا المفتتح ينطلق لتأسيس حياة النص داخل حياته الشخصية، لتظل الكتابة أقوى من الغربة، وأقوى من الموت، هي عالم الشاعر الكبير الذي يدخله بوعي وبذاكرة لغوية محتشدة بعناصر الحياة والنضال من أجل الوطن. "أنا الجنوبي الذي .. / هشمت صهيونَ الجبان / أنا الجنوبي الذي .. / أدري بأن لي المكان / أنا الجنوبي الذي .. / أعدت مجداً للبنان ...".
في الخطاب الشعري حرص الشاعر عودة على أن يعمق خطابه في إقامة بناءات لغوية متعددة تقع على سقف بنى التجاور والتماثل والتقابل والتفارق وقد وفرت هذه العناصر الثروة في محمولاتها ووحداتها البنائية إلى ضخ شعري زج الشاعر من خلاله أحاسيسه ومشاعره وأحلامه وتوقه إلى الحياة متمثلاً برمزه الأثير (مهدينا): مهدينا سيكون بين نجومنا نجم رضيع / يحبو إلى صدر الحياة ولا يضيع / سيكون طفلاُ رائعاً حلواً بديع / يُنسي المدينة حزنها ... / ويكون سلطان الجميع (...)". بهذه الروح يقدم الشاعر عودة أروع صور شعرية ترشح عن طاقة تعبيرية خلاقة تمظهرت عبر موجهات التوليد والبناء والإيحاء، وتلك هي قدرات الشاعرة البارزة على طول قصائد الديوان.
من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: "حنين" ، "عشق أسماء الجميلات" ، "الضوء والقنديل" ، "زينب تصلي في محراب السماء" ، "كآخر ذكريات الكوفة" (...) وعناوين أخرى.
