وفي هذا الكتاب يعرض المؤلف محطات أساسية في تاريخ لبنان، منطلقاً من تحري تاريخية الواقع اللبناني الحالي سابراً جذورها وأبعادها، ومركزاً على المرحلة التاريخية الفاصلة الواقعة ما بين العامين 1918 - 1920 وهو يستهدف توضيح أن فكرة الاستقلال اللبناني البعيدة المدى في التاريخ هي خميرة الاستمرارية اللبنانية، إضافة إلى تحديد الانتماء اللبناني ومشاكله منذ أن أعلن لبنان الكبير وتوضيح قضية التوازن العددي للطوائف المقيمة في لبنان بعد إعادة المناطق المسلوخة عام 1920، وحل المشكلة الاقتصادية وتجدد مشكلة الثنائية الاجتماعية وانعكاسها السياسي.
