يهتم هذا البحث بدراسة إرتباط نظرية المعرفة عند الفلاسفة المسلمين بالمكونات اللغوية، وما تتيحه شروط المعرفة من تصورات إدراكية تهيئ لتلك المكونات أن تتفاعل وصولاً إلى تحقق المعرفة اللغوية التي تتضمن إنتاج اللغة وفهمها وكذلك تمثُّلُ الأفكار الداخلية وتصورها.
إنَّ نظرية المعرفة تهتم بتأصيل المبادئ من خلالها تكون المعرفةُ ممكنةً، فتتقصى روافد المعرفة وإمكان تحققها ومدى موافقتها للحقيقة، فهي تضطلعُ الإجابة عن سؤال إمكان المعرفة، أي: ما الذي يجعل من المعرفة ممكنة؟.
وفي الفلسفة الإسلامية تأصيل يتكفل بالإجابة عن ذلك، فقد حوى المنطق الذي هو أحد أقسام الفلسفة مباحث معرفية رئيسة، وكذلك شكَّل بحث الفلاسفة المسلمين في النفس وقواها الإدراكية ركناً من أركان هذه النظرية.
والبحث ليس من أهدافه دراسة نظرية المعرفة؛ فذلك بحث فلسفي محض، إذ لما كانت السمة التخصصية له هي سمة لغوية فقد اكتفى بأنّ يستحضر الشروط المعرفية المسؤولة عن عمل اللغة إنّ على صعيد تصور الأفكار الذاتية أو إنتاج الكلام أو تأويله، فهو يعيد صياغة سؤال المعرفة بالنحو الآتي: ما الذي يجعل من المعرفة اللغوية ممكنة في تصور الفلاسفة المسلمين؟.
إن الإجابة عن ذلك تكسب البحث أهمية وجدةً تجاوز المألوف من الدراسات التي ترتكز في النظر للمدونة التراثية على المستويات اللغوية؛ إذ المستويات في الأداء الوظيفي للغة تتعاضد معاً ولا تعمل آليّاً، فثمة شروط عقلية ونفسية تنقدح عنها المكونات على صعيد توليد الكلام وتأويله.
وإلى جنب ذلك ثمة مسوغات أخرى للبحث تتعلق بطبيعة النظرات اللغوية لدى الفلاسفة المسلمين، فالتحليل اللغوي مثل عندهم لوناً من ألوان تحصيل المعارف الإكتسابية، فالأوقايل التعريفية الشارحة تفضي إلى تحصيل تصور أمر مّا، والأقاويل الجازمة المتخذة صيغة المركب الخبري تؤدي إلى إدراك نسبة تصديقية، والتصور والتصديق لونان من ألوان المعرفة.
وكذلك تصوراتهم الدلالية والتداولية وتحليلاتهم التركيبية كلها تتمحور ضمن موقعها البنيوي في مدوناتهم الفلسفية على وظائف أدائية تنشأ عنها معارف إكتسابية أو وظائف تمثليَّة تصورية تفضي إلى معارف ذاتية إستنتاجية.
فتطويع هذه النظرات ضمن مستويات لغوية يسهم في تبسيط نظراتهم وتسطيحها وإبتسارها عن إطارها المعرفي التفسيري.
