هذا الكتاب يندرج ضمن منظومة دراسات السيرة النبوية، وهو يبحث في العلاقة بين النبي ونساء المدينة منذ أن هاجر إليها وحتى توفاه الله في 11ه/ 632م.
تمثلت العلاقة في ثلاثة جوانب هي: الجانب الاجتماعي، الجانب الفقهي -فقه الأسرة- والجانب الجهادي.
وتكتسب الدراسة خصوصيتها في خلال هذه الجوانب الثلاثة، ففي الجانب الاجتماعي يتبين للقارئ صورٌ متنوعة من العلاقة بين النبي ونساء المجتمع مثل: زيارة النبي لبعض النسوة في منازلهن أو في مزارعهن وأحيانًا يعود المريضات منهن ويدعو لهن بالأجر والشفاء، وفي بعض الأحيان يشاركهن الأفراح في الأعراس وما شابه ذلك. وفي الجانب الفقهي: أي فقه الأسرة، فقد تجلت تلك العلاقة بأوضح صورها في كثرة تردد بعض النساء على النبي في بيته يسألنه عن بعض الأمور الفقهية المتعلقة بالطهارة وأحكام الصلاة والعلاقة بين الزوجين والطلاق وحقوق الحضانة، وكان في فتاوى رسول الله عن هذه المسائل تخفيفٌ ورحمة.
أما الجانب الثالث وهو الجانب الجهادي، فقد ظهرت العلاقة بين نساء المجتمع والنبي في صحبته والسير في ركابه في بعض مغازيه، حيث قمن بإسعاف الجرحى وتمريضهم وسقاية العطشى وتجهيز الطعام أحيانًا. وفي بعض الأحيان تضطر بعض النساء إلى اختراط السيوف والذب عن رسول الله وعن الحق الذي جاء به.
