إن اكتشاف الشعر يحتاج إلى إعادة الاعتبار للشعر العربي الذي هو بحق أفضل سيمفونية شاعرة قالتها الإنسانية في تاريخها، لكن كيف تقول هذا والشعر العربي ملئ بالمديح والهجاء والذم والغزل والرثاء وغيرها من أمور لا يقبلها المعاصرون؟
أليس المديح هو مديح لإنسان وبيان ما يميزه من أخلاق وخصال يريد الشاعر أن ينظر الناس فيها فيقتدون بها وتكون ديدنهم في حياتهم، والهجاء عكس ذلك فهو خصال دنية أراد الشاعر أن ينظر الناس إليها فيبتعدون عنها، والغزل هو التعبير الصريح عن الحب ذلك المعبود الذي يقع البشر كلهم أبيضهم وأسودهم، أحمرهم وأصفرهم في أسره، والرثاء هو الوفاء الذي يذكر به الإنسان أسلافه وسبب وجوده متأملاً في معنى الحياة معطياً العبرة للناس ببيان أن الوجود في الدنيا هو وجود مؤقت.
وهل يكون الاكتشاف باختيار بيت أو بيتين والاكتفاء بقصيدة أو قصيدتين؟! لا يكون هذا اكتشافاً، ولكن الاكتشاف عندي هو إبراز جوانب العظمة عند النخبة الممتازة من الشعراء، واختيار مجموعة من أشعار كل واحد منهم تكون بمثابة (بانوراما شعرية) لتجربته ما أمكننا ذلك، فبهذا نستطيع أن نعيد طرح التجربة الشعرية العربية كاملة على القارئ العربي ليعرف أن شعره العربي جدير بالقراءة والمذاكرة، ندرسه لأبنائنا فخورين بما فيه من كنوز، شاكرين لأسلافنا الذن سبقونا بالإلهام.
