في أكبر تظاهرة روائية يعيد (جوناثان كيرتش) رواية القصص المرحة في كتابه هذا واضعاً كل قصة ضمن إطارها الزمني والسياسي والاجتماعي منفياً في أحداث الدراسات الإنجيلية نفية إعطاء الجواب عن سبب منع أو تحريم كل قصة من هذه القصص وألقى ضوءاً كاشفاً عن الزمان والمكان اللذين شهدا أول كتابة للقصة وعن السبيل الذي شقته إلى التوراة وبين الكاتب أن لدى كل قصة من هذه القصص شيئاً هاماً يمكن أن تقوله إلى القراء المعاصرين.
