تعتبر رواية "بن يجوب العالم" تتمة لرواية "الطفل الخامس" الذى سبق وأن أصدرتها "سلسلة الجوائز" والروايتان تشكلان معا ما يمكن تسميته بالمتتالية الروائية تقول "دوريس ليسنج" عن رويتها لقد وصف لى شخص "الأقفاص" التى تحوى الحالات الخاصة الشبيهة ب "بن" وكان قد رآها فى معهد أبحاث فى لندن ولكن مكانها فى هذه الرواية سيكون فى البرازيل بسبب متطلبات الحبكة الروائية, ولكننى على يقين من أنه ليس هناك مثل هذه الظاهره المحزنة فى البرازيل, فى "بن يجوب العالم" سيكبر "بن" أو الطفل الخامس وسيترك عائلته نهائيا وسيسكن الشوارع وسيخوض غمار اكتشاف سر غرابته عن البشر الذين يشبهونه وسيجوب العالم بحثا عمن يشبهه تماما من مخلوقات الله.
