فن الخزف هو أحد الدعائم التى أعتمدت عليها أكثر الحضارات القديمة وخاصة الحضارة المصرية التى حاول فيها الخزاف المصرى أن يكون من أوائل الخزافين الذين أعطوا الفن الخزفى منهجية خاصة وشكلا آخر مغايرا لفن الخزف وصناعته. ومن أوائل الخزافين المصريين المعاصرين الفنان الخزاف "سعيد حامد" رائد الخزف المصرى المعاصر الذى ضحى بحياته فى سبيل إيجاد حركة خزفية مليئة بالأصالة.
ويتعرض الكتاب لمجموعة كبيرة من أعمال الفنانين الخزافين الذين تركوا بصمات واضحة فى أعمالهم ويلقى الضوء على الكثير من الفنون المتقاربة والبعيدة ويوضح الفرق بين التصور أو التشكيل على مسطح الخزف وبين اتصال أكثرهم بفنون أخرى قادرة على التعامل مع الفن الخزفى.
وقد ساعد هؤلاء الفنانين بداية من سعيد حامد وحامد سعيد وعبد الغنى الشال وكمال عبيد ثم محمد طه حسين وصالح رضا وقدرى نخلة وجمال حنفى وانتهاء بزينب سالم وجمال عبود على انتشار فن الخزف المعاصر.
