ولما كانت هذه الدراسة تقتصر على كتاب المقابسات فحسب، فإني أرجح أن يكون المفهوم المحوري للدراسة هو اللغة المستخدمة في المقابسات، وهي لغة تعكس مستوى من مستويات النثر الأدبي الفلسفي- في القرن الرابع الهجري يستوي في ذلك القدر الذي تدخل فيه أبو حيان في النصوص مع القدر إلى لم يتدخل فيه محافظًا على لغة المنقول عنهم. ولما كانت الدراسة مقتصرة على عمل واحد أيضًا فقد حالت دون استخدام المنهج الإحصائي الدقيق الذي يرصد نسب شيوع الظواهر، باعتبار أن التكرار يمثل في البحث اللغوي أهمية كبرى.
