قامت شركة Macromedia بإنتاج العديد من البرامج والتطبيقات الرسومية الخاصة بتصميم صفحات الإنترنت وبفترة وجيزة جداً. يعتبر برنامج Flash واحداً من هذه البرامج, والذي يعتمد على الرسوم والصور الخطية vector, والتي تتميز بأحجام تخزين صغيرة إضافة إلى إمكانيتها في إنشاء الحركات المعدة للتصدير إلى صفحات الإنترنت, مما جعل برنامج Flash من أقوى هذه البرامجيات استخداماً, لذلك فإن معظم المتصفحات الحالية ترفق بالبرمجيات الخاصة بتنفيذ عروض Flash, ومع بروز الإصدار 5 على الساحة والذي يعتبر الأحداث والأكثر تقدماً من حيث التقنيات الخدمية الخاصة بإنشاء العروض والتعامل مع الأشكال, ومن هذه الخدمات, إمكانية تشكيل حزمة اتصال بمزود الخدمة أو الـ Server وذلك بشكل ديناميكي من خلال برنامج Generator الذي يعتبر واحداً من المجموعة الرائعة التي تخدم هذا البرنامج, إذ أصبح بإمكان عروض Flash أن تنفذ عمليات اتصال مباشر بمواقع على الشبكة, كما أنه أصبح بالإمكان تضمين ملفات من نوع MP3 للحصول على أصوات ذات تقنية عالية ضمن صفحات الإنترنت بأصغر حجوم للملفات. إن واجهة برنامج Flash أصبحت مشابهة تماماً لباقي البرمجيات التي أنتجتها شركة Macromedia, مع المحافظة على خصوصيات هذا البرنامج من أدوات ونوافذ حوار خاصة, وقد حاولت جاهداً شرح كامل إمكانيات هذا البرنامج بشكل مفصل ضمن هذا الكتاب من خلال التعرف على القوائم والنوافذ الخاصة حيث إن الجزء الأول من الكتاب قد خصص بشكل كامل لهذا الغرض.الجزآن الثاني والثالث يناقشان آلية تنفيذ عمليات دمج بين الحركة والصوت, أما الجزء الرابع فيشرح كيف نجعل العرض تفاعلياً بحيث نربط حدوث الأشياء بأحداث تنفيذ من قبل المستثمر. الجزء الخامس يبحث آلية الربط بين عروض Flash مع البرامج الأخرى, وأخيراً في الجزء السادس من هذا الكتاب سنتعلم آلية تصدير العروض على صفحات الإنترنت أو أقراص مدمجة.
