يتكون هذا البحث من: المقدمة: عرضت فيها فكرة عامة على البحث والسبب الباعث على اختياره والعقبات التي صادفتني أثناء ذلك, الباب الأول: حياة الإمام وأحداثها التي أثرت في تكوين شخصية الإمام- مؤثرات في شخصية الإمام- شخصية الإمام العلمية, الباب الثاني: منهج الإمام محمد عبده في التفسير والفقة وتأثره بابن تيمية وابن القيم- والمنهج كما بينه هو ومنهجه لدى الباحثين., الباب الثالث: تناولت آراء محمد عبده من إنكار الرجم للزانى المحصن، والرد عليه بإثبات حكم الرجم- من الكتاب والسنة- وموقفه من السحر, الباب الرابع: تناولت فيه الأخذ بأخبار الآحاد من الكتاب والسنة والإجماع وإثبات سحر النبي "صلى الله عليه وسلم" والخاتمة.
