يتكون هذا الكتاب من ثمانية أبواب نذكرها على التوالي هي: الباب الأول: في ذكر ثناء المحدثين على أبي حنيفة رحمه الله وتوثيقهم إياه، وروايتهم عنه، الباب الثاني: في وجه الجواب عن مثالب ذكرها بعض المحدثين فيه، الباب الثالث: في ذكر نبذة من مناقبه، الباب الرابع: في ذكر من لقى من الصحابة رضي الله عنهم وروى عنه، الباب الخامس: في تفصيله على غيره، الباب السادس: في تفضيل مذهبه على مذهب غيره، الباب السابع: في أن الأخذ بمذهبه أحوط للإمام، وأدفع للحرج عن الأمة، الباب الثامن: في أخذه بالكتاب والسنة الصحيحة، ومخالفة الغير إياهما وبالله أستعين على ما قصدت، وعليه أتوكل، وأسأله العصمة من الزلل في القول والعمل، إنه جواد كريم، غفور قريب مجيب، فنقول وبالله التوفيق.
