ولن نغفل عن شارع بورقيبة وجامع الزيتونة وابن خلدون في طريقه إلى مصر والعلامة التونسي "الخضر حسين" الذي عينه جمال عبد الناصر شيخاً للأزهر، ولا يكتم الرحالة ما ظل يؤلمه من قطيعة غير مقبولة بين مصر وتونس، ولا ينسى أن يعرج على سيرة بني هلال، وإن كانت قوارب الموت والهجرة غير الشرعية إلى فردوس الشمال هي التي تشغل فكر الكاتب وتجرح مشاعره وهو يمزجها مع تغريبة المصريين في الإتجاه الأوروبي ذاته.
مخزون إنساني كبير يحتفي صاحبه بالمكان وجماله وطيبة أهله وكفاحهم، وبخاصة المرأة التونسية التي تمتاز بالريادة في مسيرة النضال والتحرر من سطوة الطغاة وسلطة الإستبداد، وفي موازاة ذلك نلمس رقة الأسلوب الشاعري الدافئ الذي يتناول الحجر فيحيله إلى رياحين وياسمين وزيتون وحرير، كما يتناول التاريخ بأحداثه وأعلامه فيغدو منارة وسيرة عطرة وذكريات مشرقة لا تغيب.
مشاهدات غنية والصور والإشارات الحميمة والمكتنزة بالمعاني السامية التي اصطادتها بصيرة تقرأ الواقع وتعيد إحياء أزمنة الناس والعمران، استحق عنها صاحبها بجدارة جائزة ابن بطوطة للرحلة المعاصرة.
