قد كَثُرَت المصنفات التي تُبَيِّن عقيدة أهل السنة والجماعة، وتُحَذِّرُ من مسالك أهل البدع والأهواء، وتنوعت مسالكها؛ فاشتملت على المنظوم والمنثور، ومن بين هذه المصنفات: "القصيدة الحاثية" لأبي بكر بن أبي داود عبد الله بن سليمان الأشعث المتوفى 316هـ، حث فيها على ضرورة الإعتصام بالكتاب والسنّة، وحذر من البدع وأهلها، وبين أن القرآن الكريم كلام الله تعالى غير مخلوق، وأثبت الله تعالى فيها الصفات التي وصف الله تعالى بها نفسه، ثم ذكر فضائل الصحابة رضوان الله عليهم، والأئمة من بعدهم، وحث على الإيمان بالقدر واليوم الآخر، وحذر من الإعتقاد برأي الخوارج والمرجئة، ثم عرف الإيمان وبين حقيقته عند أهل السنّة والجماعة، وختم قصيدته ببيان أن النجاة في سلامة المعتقد.
