يعتبرعلم الدلالة من بين أهم فروع اللسانيات النظرية ، كونه يبحث في أهم جانب من جوانب اللغة البشرية ، و هو جانب المعنى و التصورات الحادثة عن السلوك اللغوي ، و ما يرتبط بذلك من قضايا شتى بدأت تعرف أهمية بالغة منذ تأسيس الدرس اللساني الحديث في بداية القرن العشرين على يد فرديناند دي سوسير
ولقد كان لمباحث الدلالة اللغوية نصيب وافر من النقاش و التنظير منذ عهود طويلة ترجع إلى غاية عهود الفلسفة القديمة اليونانية عند الغرب ، و القرن الثاني الهجري عند العرب مع بداية حركة التأليف المعجمي ، ثم تطورت في كنف علوم عديدة كالفلسفة و الفكر و الآداب ، حتى ترسمت كعلم لساني محض ، و حصل الوعي بأهميته في القرن العشرين . و هو كما نلاحظ الآن و نشهد ، أحد المقاييس المهمة التي تدرس لطلابنا في الجامعة ، ضمن المواد اللغوية التي تكتمل بها المعرفة اللغوية ، و تنجز فيها مختلف البحوث العلمية عند الطلبة و الباحثين و الأساتذة على السواء
و في نفس المناسبة نلاحظ قلة المراجع التي تعين طلبتنا الأعزاء على الاطلاع في مختلف هذه المقاييس ، خصوصا و ان الموجود منها لا يخرج عن كونه مترجما بلغة تقترب من الجدل الفلسفي أو التعقيد المصطلحي ، أو كونه مفصلا يتيه بالطالب في مسائل لا نخال أنفسنا مغالطين إذا قلنا أنها تتجاوزه على الأقل في مرحلة التحصيل ولذلك فإننا نقدم هذا الكتاب كمعين على فهم علم الدلالة و أهم مباحثه القاعدية ، قصد التسهيل و التبسيط على القراء ، و كمرجع يحيلهم على بحوث أخرى أكثر تعمقا و تخصصا ، و هي محاضرات جمعتها سابقا ثم صففتها و أقدمها للطلبة الجامعيين أملا في أن يكون من زملاءنا الكرام منجزات تثري المكتبة اللغوية في الجزائر ، و نأمل أن تكون فيه الفائدة للجميع ،والله من وراء القصد وهو يهدي السبيل
