يعتبر هذا الكتاب من أهم تأليفات الشيخ محمد زكريا رحمه الله، وهو يضم بين جنبيه علماً غزيراً نافعاً وتحقيقات علمية قيمة حول موضوع حجة الوداع وعمرات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد سلك فيه المؤلف منهج الإستيعاب الشامل والإستقصاء الكامل والتحري للصواب والبحث عن الحقيقة العلمية وتقرير الحق والأمانة في النقل، كما أنه يحوي من العلوم الشرعية والأحكام الفقهية والتحقيقات التاريخية ما يتعذر وجوده في سواه، علماً أن المؤلف لم يغفل ذكر الأقوال الواهية حتى لا يغتر بها من يعثر عليها، وإنما أوردها لبنيه على مكامن الضعف، وكل ذلك في أدب جم وتواضع ظاهر وأسلوب علمي نزيه، محتجاً إلى جانبه بما أورده الثقة من المحققين والعلماء المخلصين.
