الطهارة ركيزة من ركائز الإيمان، ودعامة من دعائم المؤمن التي لا تنفك عنه. فلا إيمان بغير طهارة من إرجاسات الشرك، وإرهاصات الباطل، ولهذا وصف الله تعالى في قرآنه المشركين بأنهم نجس، وفي ذلك إشارة إلى أن الطهارة والنجاسة غير مقصورتين على الظواهر المدركة بالحواس، فلربما بدوا في أكمل طهارة ظاهرة في البدن والرداء؛ غير أن لهم قلوباً رانت عليها الأخباث والنجاسات فلا يفقهون بها، ولا يبلغون عن طريقها درجة التعرف على المادة الإيمانية للطهور. كذلك لا إيمان بغير نقاء يسكن النفس، تنقشع به ظلمات الكبر والبغض والحسد والظلم والتكبر والتجبر، وكلها أرجاس تعكر صفو طهارة الباطن كما تغير النجاسات صفو الماء الطهور، فلا تجعله صالحاً لأن يتطهر به. كذلك تجعل القلب منطقة محرمة على ملائكة الرحمة، فالقلب المشحون بالمعاصي المثقل بالآثام لا تفد إليه الملائكة.
هذا وإن لعظم شأن الطهارة، وجليل أمرها جعلت من أوائل ما بلغ به الرسول الكريم من التنزيل الحكيم، إذ ورد الأمر للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، بطهارة الثوب الظاهر عقب أمر مسبق بتطهير النفس بمادة طهورية خالصة هي مادة التوحيد، ثم توالت الأوامر بالطهارة الظاهرة والباطنة. أما كون الطهارة دعامة من دعائم المسلم المؤمن، فذلك لأنه لا تمام لإيمانه، ولا أثر لتكليفته التعبدية، إن لم ترتكز على طهارة باطنية وظاهرة. فهو مطالب بالطهارة بشقيها عند لقاء الله في الصلوات وحال أداء سائر العبادات، وحال الدعاء والرجاء، وحال مس المصحف. هذا ولم يترك القرآن والسنة المطهرة مجالاً للطهارة ومادتها ودواعيها وأنواعها وبدائلها إلا وضع أصوله وفصّله تفصيلاً.
ومن خلال هذا الكتاب تطل الدكتورة عبلة محمد الكملاوي على القارئات لبيان تلك الأحكام الفقهية في الطهارة، وذلك من خلال بيان حقيقة طهارة الباطن هذا بعد جولة في آفاق النفس وأروقة المشاعر حيث استقرت لديها حقيقة طهارة الباطن، لتعبر بعدها إلى الظاهر وإلى مادة الطهارة الأصيلة والبديلة، وإلى الرخص والبدائل، وإلى ما يؤثر في الطهارة، وإلى ما يمنع بها، مستضيئة في كل ذلك بالقرآن والسنة وبأقوال الفقهاء القدامى والمعاصرين، مذيلة، ومن ثم، بعض هذه النقاط برأي وتلخيص.
