حاولنا في هذا البحث إلى تقييم أداء قطاع التجارة في الجزائر، من خلال الإشكالية المطروحة والمتمثلة في: ما مدى نجاعة أداء قطاع التجارة في الإقتصاد الجزائري من منظور حساب الإنتاج وحساب الإستغلال خلال الفترة الممتدة (1974- 2012)؟ وللإجابة عن الإشكالية إستخدمنا مجموعة من أدوات القياس الإقتصادي والإحصاء، إعتماداً على بيانات الديوان الوطني للإحصاء (ONS)، حول مجموعة من المتغيرات المرتبطة بقطاع التجارة.
ومن خلال الأدوات الإحصائية المطبقة حاولنا توضيح مساهمة وأهمية قطاع التجارة في الإقتصاد الوطني، وكان إهتمامنا في الجزء التطبيقي على التحليل الإحصائي لبعض المتغيرات المتعلقة بقطاع التجارة، وتتبع سلوك متغيرات الدراسة من منظور حساب الإنتاج وحساب الإستغلال، وتقدير دوال التمييز القطاعي العام والخاص للتجارة.
وتوصلت نتائج التحليل أن قطاع التجارة في الجزائر ساهم في تنمية الإقتصاد الوطني رفقة بقية القطاعات الأخرى، كما لاحظنا أن القطاع العام مهيمن على القطاع الخاص للتجارة إلى غاية الفترة قبل الإصلاحات وبعدها يحل القطاع الخاص ويسيطر على النشاط التجاري.
