لقد أصبح الإرهاب شراً بلا وطن وبلا هوية، ومن ثم فقد امتدت يده لتصل إلى كافة الدول والمجتمعات على حد سواء دون تفريق على أساس مذهبي أو طائفي أو ديني أو غيره، ولم يكن يخطر ببال أحد أن تضرب يد الإرهاب الآثمة قبلة المسلمين ومهد الإسلام المملكة العربية السعودية، إلا أن الإرهاب ابى أن يحترم قدسية تلك الدولة التي يقصدها القاصي والداني من كل حدب وصوب لأداء الشعائر الإسلامية حيث تعرضت المملكة للعديد من المتفجيرات الإرهابية والتي لم تفرق بين البشر، فالمهم عندها هو الدمار والتخريب مهما كانت الضحايا. ولم تقتصر آثار الإرهاب على قطاع معين أو جانب دون آخر، بل تخطت آثاره لتصل إلى كافة الجوانب السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية داخل المجتمع، كما دفعت إلى حالة من عدم الاستقرار الذي نشأ بدوره لانتشار العنف في المجتمع والذي ربما يدفع بعض الفئات الأخرى والتي تكون عادة في ظروف اجتماعية واقتصادية سيئة إلى الانضمام إلى تلك الجماعات.
ولا ريب أن الأعمال الإرهابية التي وقعت بالمملكة كان لها آثاراً عديدة على جميع المستويات ومنها الأمن الوطني والذي يعد أحد الركائز الأساسية اللازمة لتحقيق الاستقرار، الأمر الذي يعني وجود خطر فعلى يواجه المملكة متمثلاً في تلك الأعمال الأرهابية. ومن هنا يصبح لزاماً الربط بين الأعمال الإرهابية التي تقع بالمملكة من جانب وبين دور الأمن الوطني في مجابهة تلك الأعمال من جانب آخر.
ومن خلال ما سبق يمكن القول أن هذا الكتاب هو محاولة متواضعة للوقوف على تلك الظاهرة التي تهدد أمن الأوطان جميعاً ومنها قبلة الإسلام والمسلمين في مشارق الأرض ومغاربها، إنها محاولة لرصد حركات الإرهاب بالمملكة العربية السعودية وما السبيل نحو الخلاص؟
