القراءة الشعرية تعتمد على منهجٍ يقرره المتلقي وفق ما يتماس معه من هواجس لغوية ترشده إلى تلك الظلال الخفيّة " المساحة الخفية " في القول الشعري، حتى تتم عملية التوازن بين ما هو داخل وما هو خارج. في قراءة الشعر العربي، ثمة ما يقودنا دائماً للتمسك بما وراء الفكرة، فنحن نظفر بكثير من اللذة حينما نمسك بالنسق الدلالي الذي يتقنّع خلف النصّ الشعري، إلا أننا كثيراً ما نفقد البنية التواصلية بين ما هو لفظي وما هو دلالي، لذا كثيراً ما نصطدم بنصوص نظنها للوهلة الأولى نصوصاً خارجة عن مدلولها اللغوي، رغم ما ينتظم فيها من انسجام تقني، فنحن أمام حالتين من الاتصال، حالة شفاهية تعيدنا إلى أصل الشعر، وحالة كتابية تقودنا إلى إعمال الذاكرة في المستجدات التي طرأت وتطرأ بشكل كبير على مسيرة الشعر العربي، وهما حالتان تضعان أمامنا نصّاً واحداً بغرفتين مختلفتين تماماً، غرفة لها شبابيكها وأبوابها " الحالة الشفوية "، وغرفة بلا شبابيك وأبواب، وفيها من دوائر الهندسة ما تخفي وراءها الكثير من الخطوط الأولى، أو النقط الأولى للبيكار الهندسي " الحالة الكتابية "، فكيف نفرق إذن بين حالتين لنصّ واحد دون الرجوع إلى أصل الذات الفاعلة والمسيطرة على الخارج الشعري، صلة التماس النهائي بين الشاعر والمتلقي.
جاء اهتمامنا بالتبادل والتجاور الإشاري من منطلق أننا أمام هاتين الحالتين نحاول التماس مع النص الشعري، قوته، انشغالاته، ومحرّكاته اللفظية والدلالية، فإذا ما استطعنا الفرز بين الذوات في العملية القرائية، "الوقوف على التبادل فيما بينها/ الألفاظ"، عندها نستطيع تلمُّس "جذر البنية النصيّة التي يقوم عليها الداخل/ الدلالة " والوقوف على الدلالات الفرعية والهامشية التي يحدثها فعل التجاور بين ذوات الألفاظ"، وعليه يكون تقسيمنا للذات مدخلاً للبحث عن القيادة المركزية للنصّ الشعري، والذي يتناوب عليه كلٌّ من الداخل الشعري " النصّ الشفوي "، والخارج الشعري " النصّ الكتابي ".
