صدمة الحقيقة، لمن كانت خافية عنه، تكون فى الغالب موجعة مريرة هكذا أصيبت هيلين بالصدمة عندما تلقت نبأ وفاة والدها، فى حين كانت أمها الممثلة المشهورة، قد أخبرتها منذ طفولتها بأنه مات.. واكنت كذبة الأم طوال سنوات مدعاة لأن ترى الحياة مظلمة كئيبة. كان عليها أن تسافر إلى البرازيل.. حيث ترك لها الأب ميراثا ضخما بإحدى الجزر. لكنها وهى عارضة الأزياء الرقيقة الجميلة، التقت برجل متوحش، جيك لوجان، ظن بانها جاءت من لندن بحثا عن المال. الميراث كان مناصفة مع لوجان السئ السمعه الجاف الذى أرعبها.. وعاشت أياما مفزعة على الجزيزة النائية، يتوجها الخوف والذعر، إلى أن هربت إلى لندن.. فطاردها لوجان حتى هناك.. فترتجف بوجع لذيذ يسرى مالمخدر تحت جلدها.
